MBT BUTYL TAPE

1.     Product Name
MBT Butyl Tape

2.    Product Description
MBT is an elastomeric butyl rubber-based extruded scalant on silicone release paper, designed for scaling a variety of construction joints.  This product meets the critical requirements of the pe-engineered metal building, as well as the modular housing and window glazing industries and is very resistant to ultraviolet light. MBT is engineered to withstand extreme roof temperatures while offering superior low temperature compressibility and resistance to cold flow.  A wide selection of shapes, sizes and lengths are available to meet most joint configurations.  MBT is packaged in water-resistant cartons suitable for export shipment.

Composition:  Polyisobutylene-isoprene (butyl rubber), inert fillers, tackifying resins, ultraviolet inhibitors, surfactants.DOES NOT CONTAIN ASBESTOS.

3.   Technical Data
See properties and Performance Data (below). Meets or exceeds the following specifications:

Military Spec MIL-C1896B Type II ClassB
Federal Spec TT-C-1796A Type II Class B
N.A.A.M.M. SS-1C-68
A.A.M.A. 804.1 AND 807.1
M.B.M.A. Ice Damming-Five (5) inch static water head test.
F.D.A. Regulations - All new materials used in MBT comply with regulations for pressure-sensitive adhesives (#175.125).

4.Installation instructions:
Surface preparation:

All surfaces to be sealed should be free of dust, dirt, oil and moisture before applying sealant.  Clean with soap and water or aliphatic solvent.

Working conditions:
Apply to dry conditions above 400F. Below 400F atmospheric condensation on surfaces may inhibit adhesion and should be avoided.

Application:
Apply MBT to surface directly from roll.  Press sealant through the silicone release paper with a smooth, even hand motion.  NOTE: For metal roofing and siding applications, be certain to place scalant on the "wet" side of the fasteners to prevent wind blown rain from leaking through the fasteners holes.
